About
Ryan Benyi is a native of Columbus, Ohio. His love of photography began as a high school student at Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center for the Arts. After buying his first camera (a well worn Pentax K1000) he quickly fell in love with black and white photography and darkroom printing. He continued his studies at Ohio University, receiving a degree in Commercial Photography through the school's Visual Communications department on an Eastman Kodak scholarship.
48 hours after graduation, Ryan found himself standing on the streets of New York City waiting to begin his life as a photographer. At the time all he had was a Motorola beeper, a pocket full of phone numbers and a great attitude about work.
Ryan spent several years assisting some of the top photographers in New York gaining experience in shooting food, interior work, fashion and beauty before beginning this own shooting career in New York.
After more than 15 years in New York City, Ryan returned to Columbus, Ohio to open a photo studio in Downtown Columbus. Ryan's work has been published in national magazines, advertising campaigns, menus and social media channels. His work has taken him from large urban centers to the smallest towns in America's heartland. He is equally comfortable on location and in the studio. His specialties include food, location and still life photography. He continues to treat each project as a challenge and approach it with a fresh eye.
